WELCOME TO THE RICHMOND NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER’S NEW LOOK!

Sep 27, 2018

Over the last 38 years, The Richmond Neighborhood Center has grown from a small operation in the Outer Richmond to a district-wide organization serving more than 5,000 people every year. With after school programs at nine area schools, food pantries and grocery deliveries that provide food to more than 700 families and seniors in need each week, adult wellness classes that keep our community healthy, and free festivals and events that bring our neighborhood closer together, we strive to address the needs and enrich the lives of every single one of our neighbors.

With all the exciting changes we’ve undergone in recent years, we realized it was time for a new name, a new logo, and a new look and feel that captured our wide range of programs and the diversity of the neighborhood we call home.

And so today the Richmond District Neighborhood Center, or RDNC, officially becomes The Richmond Neighborhood Center! Developed in collaboration with our staff, program participants, and community members, our new name and look were inspired by all the things that make our neighborhood vibrant, diverse, and a great place to live.

Central to our new logo—an outline of the district itself—is an elevated “O” representing the inclusion of the many cultures, ethnic backgrounds, ages, and community interests that make up the Richmond District as a whole. We’ve also got a fresh new color palette that draws on the natural beauty of our neighborhood, and comes together in a mosaic that’s greater than the sum of its parts—just like the people of the Richmond.

Additionally, we’ll soon be rolling out a monthly newsletter where you can keep up with our programs, see what’s going on in the neighborhood, and learn how to get involved! Make sure to sign up here so you can catch our October issue.

While we’re changing our name and look, rest assured that we’re still the same Neighborhood Center you know and love. Whether you participate in our after school programs, volunteer with our food pantries, or attend our community events, we’re here to provide a space for all our neighbors to lead healthier, happier, more community-oriented lives.

The Richmond Neighborhood Center’s headquarters on 30th Avenue has housed numerous community organizations over the last 100 years, from a home for struggling teens to a school for the blind. We’re excited to begin this next chapter in the history of the Richmond District, and we can’t wait for you to help us write it.
