One Richmond
One Richmond is a community-driven initiative and neighborhood identity started in 2017 to bring the Richmond District together. It promotes shared values of Inclusiveness, Compassion, Civic Pride and Shopping Local. First proposed by Supervisor Sandra Lee Fewer, One Richmond was developed with the input of community members who shared their ideas about what makes the Richmond great, and what could make it even better.
One Richmond was founded with four guiding principles:
We’re inclusive:
Unifying all Richmond residents, both old and new, across our diverse communities.
We take care of each other:
Fostering a community where all our residents care for one another.
We take care of the Richmond:
Developing a sense of ownership and responsibility for the Richmond District.
We shop and eat local:
Supporting our small businesses by encouraging neighbors to shop and eat locally.
Clement Lunch Lane Initiative: A New Way to Support and Savor Local Flavors in the Richmond District
The Clement Lunch Lane initiative launches today, offering a delicious opportunity to explore the rich culinary diversity of the Richmond District while supporting local restaurants. This new program highlights participating eateries along Clement Street from 19th to 26th Avenue, where each restaurant will offer exclusive lunch specials to attract more customers and boost local business. To kick things off, we're hosting a launch event this Thursday June 5 from 12–2 PM on Clement Street in Outer Richmond. Many local businesses will be offering $5 lunch meals to celebrate! It’s a super exciting way to mark the first day of summer break, and we’d love for our families and neighbors to join in the fun.
The Clement Lunch Lane initiative is an extension of The Richmond Neighborhood Center’s commitment to strengthening the community through local partnerships and events. For over 45 years, the Center has served the Richmond District by providing youth programs, community events, and food security efforts. The SELF (Shop-Eat-Local-First) program, launched in 2023, plays a key role in connecting neighbors with local businesses. The SELF program encourages residents to shop and dine locally, and the Clement Lunch Lane initiative aligns perfectly with this mission.
“We’re excited to bring people together and celebrate the amazing food scene right here on Clement Street,” said Sarah Li, Resource Co-ordinator at The Richmond Neighborhood Center. “By supporting small businesses and encouraging people to explore new dining options, we’re helping build a stronger, more vibrant community.”
The initiative encourages locals and visitors to discover new lunch spots, enjoy special deals, and support small businesses, many of which are immigrant- and women-owned. By doing so, Clement Lunch Lane fosters a thriving neighborhood economy and enhances community engagement.
