On October 24, students at our nine Richmond District public school sites took part in some of the 10,000 nationwide celebrations of Lights On Afterschool! A project of the Afterschool Alliance, the event raises awareness about all the ways after-school programs improve the lives of students and their families, with the goal of making sure all students have access to quality programming after the last bell rings.
Activities at this year’s Lights On Afterschool events ranged from games and sports to musical performances, arts and crafts, and more. At each of our schools, students hung banners and posters with handwritten messages sharing what they love about their after-school programs.
As always, the event was a great opportunity to reflect on our values and take time to appreciate the staff, students, and families who make these programs possible. We can’t wait to celebrate again next fall!
