Gateway High School

The Richmond Neighborhood Center has been partnering with Gateway High School since 2023. We have worked closely with staff, faculty, students, and families to integrate programs as well as our Neighborhood Center staff into the Gateway family!

We have specialized support through our Student Advocacy Program. Students work with The Richmond Neighborhood Center’s Student Advocates to stay on track for graduation, develop social and emotional skills, and create individualized plans focused on academic, personal, and career oriented goals.

Our staff also support Identity Groups that allow students to connect with other students who share similar identities and interests. Our Identity Groups push students to examine their lived experiences and identify ways to build community and do outreach within their own communities.

Finally, our Family Engagement Program at Gateway focuses on working with underserved families by providing workshops, resources, and opportunities to connect to the school and their Admin.

2024-25 Registration is now closed. 2025-26 Registration will open in mid-April. Please contact the Program Manager for more information and questions.

Bishoy Abdelshaid

HS Programs Director

I am originally from Sacramento and am the product of my amazing grandparents. I am the Director of High School Programs for The Richmond Neighborhood Center as well as a Board member for Black Lives Matter, Sacramento. I have been teaching and doing wellness work within The City for about 6 years, at K-12 and College Levels. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Religious Studies and went on to receive my Master's Degree in Urban Education and Social Justice from the University of San Francisco. In working for an organization that supports underserved youth through our intentional and healing- centered programming, I am especially excited to have the opportunity to use my expertise to support black youth across San Francisco.
